Kawthar is from Martinez, California (though she now lives in Austin, Texas) and is a Chemical Engineering (ABET) major. Kawthar has been involved in Branford since her first year and served as Branford College Council president her sophomore year. Outside of Branford, she’s involved in several engineering organizations including the Society of Women Engineers and Engineers Without Borders. She also conducts research in a chemical engineering lab, where she is working on a viral wastewater monitoring project.
Kawthar is also the director of The Good Show, Yale’s SNL-style sketch comedy group, and firmly believes it’s the best sketch group to ever exist. In her free time, she enjoys writing sketches, playing violin, and recently picked up the harmonica. She’s also a big fan of Branford’s pottery studio!
A devoted Book Trader regular, Kawthar gets an iced vanilla chai latte nearly every day and is most often found camped out in the Branford library. She loves Branford for its cozy community, assassins games, and the unmatched vibe of college formals. She can’t wait to invite you all to her annual Branford Harry Styles Birthday Party Tea Room celebration. Kawthar is extremely excited to meet the class of 2029 and is always happy to chat about engineering, comedy, weird hobbies, or where to find the best study spots on campus.
